Toto Recall

Toto Recall came into our lives on Sunday, March 7, 2004. Toto was scheduled to be euthanized when Kathy, the moderator at http://www.pugstories.com started a thread on March 6th that made everyone aware of Toto's plight. Folks from all over the U.S. networked to get this guy out of harm's way. Finally, contact was made with Roxane at http://www.PugSavers.com. The amazing thing is that Toto was scheduled to make his final trip that weekend, but fortunately, Roxane, was able to get through to the shelter on Saturday. The truly amazing thing was that Roxane got into voice-mail hell and, out of desperation, pressed '0' and lo and behold, she got to an actual human!

She talked the folks there into letting her pick up our boy on Sunday. Mary & Mike from Berkeley volunteered to pick him up and they delivered him to us that same day. When my wife and I saw the brute (I thought he was 40 pounds!) he immediately reminded us of our Otto, who was our very first rescue on January 1, 1997 when he was 10. (We had the pleasure of Otto's company and love for almost 7 years and had to say goodbye in August 2003.) So, we decided to call him Toto. The other babies were not at all perturbed by Toto's presence. They seemed to think Otto had come back. So, in honor of Toto's being snatched from extinction and in honor of the seeming return of Otto, we expanded Toto's name to "Toto Recall".
