Here I sit writing my first blog with my old boy Otto on my lap. Otto is an ancient Pug that we rescued in January of 1997. At that time we believed he was about ten years old. That puts the old boy at about sixteen now! He's still a pretty spunky guy though we have to carry him around. He can walk but time's-a-wastin' when you gotta go potty. On the chair beside me is Jake. We rescued Jake in October of 2002. He's a pup at about one year. He bonded to me like a barnacle.
These two guys are at opposite ends. Otto is slower than slow and Jake is like the RoadRunner. What they have in common is me! So many Pugs and not enough lap.
We first met Otto through the rails of the cage that housed him. We heard he was found wandering the streets of Sacramento. That should have been a sight since Otto is so bow-legged that he rocks from side to side when he walks. We took him home on New Year's day. He was pretty sick with a terrible cough that shook him so much we thought he'd have a stroke. My wife was his constant companion and nursed him back to health. More on Otto at a later date.
Jake came to us full of piss and vinegar. But mostly piss, promptly washing our floors, carpets, and furniture and letting all know of his presence. We started to understand why Jake was not welcome at his last home.
Well, that's all for now.
