Undesirable Effects &
Core Problems
•Often, some behavior or result that we don’t like in a system is not a problem but an undesirable effect (UDE).
•Core problems are usually perpetuated by a hidden or underlying conflict.
E.g.
UDE: Project Managers are always changing priorities.
Core Problem: No clearly defined project strategy.
