Challenges
•Language, Information, Ex-formation
•Business Culture
•Mimicry
As stated earlier, most of our soft-problems are due to our inability to express terms appropriately in relationship to the context, which is a n-wise relationship.
Language: Our verbal languages are limited. The Map is not the territory.
Often language is the source of difficulty and not the solution. I love the new voice questionnaires that ask for, for example, your zip code, and then say, “OK, your zip code is nnnnn.”
The applications deal in DATA only. It’s not really information. However, the applications ‘tell’ you things directly. This can be good or bad information, which one can easily repudiate.
The exformation is the information that is not ‘told’, however, it’s clear that it’s true. For example, if the data states: no rain, no wind, then the exformation is ‘It’ll be a nice day.”
Culture: Our business cultures both internal to the organization and external usually are different to varying degrees. There is also problems across ethnic and national cultures as well.
We expect ‘systems’ to fit into our business culture.
Often, these systems are designed by individuals who do not participate in the business culture or even the community’s culture (sovereign or ethnic).
